I met Rachel and Clare in Durham in 2014 and attended some early in parenthesis reading group meetings (was it 2015 or 2016?) where we read and discussed texts by the four philosophers. However, Iris Murdoch is the one that interests me the most for two reasons: I am interested in Murdoch’s exploration of the topic of remorse and repentance which connects with my work in the philosophy of forgiveness and I am intrigued by her criticisms of Kant, which I think have inspired some contemporary Kantians to read some Kantian themes in a more interesting way.
